Our Technical Team is capable of all stages of overhead power line design: preliminary, final or construction execution pursuant to Italian Law no. 339 of 28 June 1986 and to any national or international standard required by the client. The preliminary design defines the qualitative and functional characteristics of the connection. The preferred route is chosen among those that are technically and environmentally feasible, identifying the one that presents the best characteristics. The final project design contains all the elements necessary for issuing the required authorisations and approvals for the construction and operation of the connection. It fully identifies the definitive layout of the line in compliance with the requirements, criteria, constraints, guidelines and indications established in the preliminary design.
The executive construction design represents the engineering of all the interventions envisaged in the previous design phases in full detail, thus representing the technically more defined phase of the entire design phase.
For the design and verification of the elements that constitute overhead power lines, the Technical Team employs various commercial and specially created power line design software packages, such as PLS-CADD, TOWER, PLS-POLE, SAPS, WinEDT, VICREM, WinELF.
We construct high voltage and extra high voltage overhead power lines, in Italy and abroad, using qualified suppliers of proven professionalism, following the production of every single basic element that constitutes an electric line from design to deployment.
Nowadays, foundation and underpinning works for power line pylons are exclusively made of reinforced concrete and can have separate feet or a single floor, with bored piles, micropiles or rock anchors.
Support structures for electric power lines can be of many types, shapes and sizes; steel lattice pylons, tubular steel towers, centrifuged concrete towers. Depending on the type of pylon/tower, related accessories and location, the assembly can be undertaken with the traditional jin pole method or by using mobile cranes or helicopters. Similarly, also the demolition of obsolete power line pylons/towers is performed with the same methods.
Nowadays, stringing of high-voltage power lines is mostly performed under mechanical tension using a technique commonly known as "braking". This method allows for the installation of new conductors, i.e. the replacement of existing line conductors, avoiding both superficial damage of the conductor and the interruption of line service during the installation phases.
Stringing includes the following main steps: Scheduling, Laying, Adjustment, Clamping, Positioning accessories, Final checking.
We are qualified to TERNA levels LELE02 and LELE04 with unlimited tender threshold and we can string power line the conductors for all voltage levels in Italy.
The SkyWrap system is a solution for mounting a fibre optic cable on overhead power lines. The reduced cable size constitutes a minimal additional load on conductors, clamps and supports. The SkyWrap system quickly and efficiently expands optical fibre network capacity with minimal interruption of power supply services. This unique installation technology has been carefully created to fit or "wrap" the cable on a conductor under constant and continuous tension. The Wrap-Machine is sufficiently light that it does not degrade the mechanical resistance of the conductors during the installation of the cable and it is remotely controlled by radio, ideal for river, road or rail crossings and other difficult terrain. A hand-pulled device can be used for smaller low and medium voltage lines (AccessWrap). The cable can be installed on the guard conductor of an overhead line or on phase conductors up to 345 kV. We can boast more than 20 years of experience in SkyWrap installation technology both in Italy and in Europe.
